Live in the House has twice hosted Martin Stephenson, previously performing solo to sell out audiences at Henry Tudor House. So we are extra thrilled to be welcoming Martin back to the acoustic and visually dramatic Shrewsbury Abbey and even better, this time with his band The Daintees. The band will be playing a bunch of songs old and new from their vast 40+ year repertoire and new album You Belong To Blue. Expect to hear classics such as Coleen, Little Red Bottle, Crocodile Cryer, Slow Loving, Salutation Road, Big Sky New Light alongside new classics such as Beautiful Day, Better Get Sam, You Belong to Blue and Sweet September Rain. The tour will feature brothers Anth and Gary Dunn on guitar and bass duties, along with 22 year old drummer Charlie Smith. Charlie’s grandfather Paul Smith was the Daintees’ original drummer, playing on seminal albums such as Boat to Bolivia, Gladsome Humour & Blue and The Boy’s Heart!

Martin formed The Daintees in the early 80’s, becoming busking sensations before signing for Kitchenware at around the same time as Prefab Sprout and Hurrah! The band, and indeed Martin, have always been known for their incredible range of styles, each album covering a multitude of genres, tempos and moods. The Daintees went on to release four critically acclaimed albums between 1986 & 1992; Boat To Bolivia, Gladsome Humour and Blue, Salutation Road, and The Boys Heart.

This will be a great show, not to be missed!
