Volunteer

Time is probably the most precious gift you can offer whether to family, friends or members of your community.  We are keen to help you reach out to improve all our lives.  There are many ways that this can be done. Please complete the enquiry form below if you would like to get involved.

We are particularly keen to hear from people who would like to get involved in the following ways:

Youth Council

Our Parish Council recently took the exciting decision to create a new Youth Council to improve the experiences and opportunities for the young people in our area.  We are looking for energetic individuals who share our values of belonging and inclusion to engage with young people at all levels, including outreach and music programmes.  If you would like to be part of our commitment to improving the life chances of local children we would be delighted to hear from you!

Gardening

Interested in helping to maintain a pleasant space around the Abbey as well as improve your health with light physical activity and opem air?

We need volunteers to donate their time, rakes and brushes to help maintain the abbey’s grounds and protect the drains and channels of this scheduled ancient monument. Our Wilfred Owen memorial also needs care and attention to protect it from the tree canopies.

Event Stewards

We are expanding the number of events that we host.  We need volunteers to greet our guests and promote a safe and welcoming environment.  First Aid trained volunteers are most welcome.

Visitor guides

Do you have an interest in the Abbey’s history including the Norman conquest, architecture, stained glass design and Victorian restoration? We have many experienced guides keen to share their knowledge with a new generation of volunteers.

Photography

The Abbey is known for its architectural beauty as well as spiritual and historic significance.  Amateur photographers are welcome to send us contributions for our gallery and social media.
