NORTH WALES OPERA – RIGOLETTO

May 17 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

North Wales Opera returns to its Shrewsbury ‘home’ to present Verdi’s Rigoletto. The Abbey will be transformed with a raised platform and expert lighting to create intense drama accompanied by talented singers and Shrewsbury’s very own Ensemble SY1 live orchestra.

This is one of the most famous operas with melodies you will instantly recognise. From the fireworks of Gilda’s Caro Nome to the greatly recognised La donna è mobile! Like many of its class, this opera can be expressed in a few sentences and is likely the best to express the potency of rueful karma and the underbelly of schadenfreude.

Under the proven leadership and artistry of international soprano Anne Williams-King and her team, North Wales Opera add this opera to their repertoire.

  • Blue Light Card Holder (Discounts for NHS & Emergency Service https://www.bluelightcard.co.uk/en) – one card ID per one ticket only
  • Defence Privilege Card Holder (Discounts for the UK’s Armed Forces, Veterans and wider Defence Community – https://www.defencediscountservice.co.uk/en) – one card ID per one ticket only
  • Concession Tickets are available to:
    • Full-Time Students with Valid Student ID
    • Under 25s (Proof of Age—Driver’s License, Passport etc.)
    • Those in receipt of Universal or Pension Credit (not just a state pension). Evidence of benefit (one ID per one ticket only).

If tickets have been bought without appropriate ID, standard tickets will need to be purchased otherwise there will be no admission to the performance.

The doors to the Abbey will close 5 minutes before the beginning of the show. Those who are late to the performance will need to wait until the intermission to be seated. Please make sure that you arrive in plenty of time.

Take advantage of early bird and discounted tickets online. Only standard tickets can be purchased at the door subject to availability (£25 per ticket). Seating will be allocated to best available regardless of location.
